What brought you to Collins Home Loans?

I was looking to purchase a new property, but didn’t fully appreciate what I needed to know until I met with the mortgage specialist, Ian from Collins Home Loans. Ian took the time to listen to my situation and understand my position.

How did Collins help you?

Ian didn’t just sell us a home loan, he helped us find the best solution for our circumstances. I was impressed with how much time he took to understand my situation and, because of this, he was able to offer solutions that matched my needs; solutions that I hadn't even considered until we met. What did you learn about home loans that you didn't know before?

I learnt how a mortgage off-set account works and how it might suit my situation. The Collins mortgage broker was able to offer specific solutions that matched my needs and came up with the suggestion of a guarantor loan.

I hadn't previously considered a guarantor loan until we worked out exactly how much we needed to borrow and realised that the loan-to-value ratio (LVR) was going to be too high and we would face hefty mortgage insurancecharges. He also explained how a credit card works in terms of managing our repayments.

My parents ended up becoming our guarantors for my loan. Ian helped them understand what was involved, so they felt reassured with the whole process.

Were there any issues that arose during the loan process and how did Collins handle them?

There were a few issues that popped up during the application phase (aren't there always?), but the Collins team were quick to resolve them as they arose.

How would you describe the overall home loan experience – from application through to settlement?

It was a great experience; really enlightening, actually. I felt supported all the way and if any issues did arise, the Collins team managed them professionally and in a timely fashion.
